2019 Annual Report IIA Global: Decade of Progress

Blockchain and Internal Control: The COSO Perspective 

COSO released a new paper, sponsored by Deloitte, providing perspectives for using the COSO Internal Control – Integrated Framework (2013) to evaluate risks related to the use of blockchain in the context of financial reporting and to design and implement controls to address such risks. 

The paper is intended to help inform decisions regarding oversight, risks, and internal control over financial reporting (ICFR) in a blockchain environment.

The importance of auditing culture and behaviour

In this article on accaglobal.com James Paterson notes that it's time that GRC professionals, regulators and Internal Audit recognised the importance of auditing culture and behaviour - the "soft stuff". James runs training for 12 IIA organisations in Europe, as well as on an in-house basis globally. The most famous definitions for culture is “Culture is the way we do things around here.” The fundamental idea behind the soft stuff is that, on paper, things may appear to be fine, but in practice reality is not the same.
