IIA Conference 2021: Reinvent & Reconnect

We are looking forward to bringing you live together again after 1.5 years; during the annual IIA Netherlands Conference! This event, filled with knowledge and networking, will take place on 16 and 17 September, and is themed Reinvent & Reconnect. Our goal is obvious: to reconnect with each other and to reinvent audit - to look ahead and discuss the 'beyond covid' era. Will you be there?

What do auditors actually do?

What do you have on your plate? What are your responsibilities? What do you think is (not) part of your duties? How do you explain to friends and family what you do? As part of the annual Internal Audit Awareness Month in May, IIA Global has provided many great resources to answer such questions. Including the great publication All in a Day's Work - A Look at the Varied Responsibilities of Internal Auditors.

Training Assurance mapping and coordination

We are required to ensure our work is coordinated with others and we should have a consistent process for determining how much to rely on them. In this training on June 17 you will learn how to measure other assurances (in the first and second lines) and best practices for audit planning leveraging such information. At the end of the day, you know all about basic assurance mapping techniques to identify gaps and overlaps in the assurance jigsaw.

The impact of recent global trends on internal auditing in the insurance industry

The Covid-19 pandemic has been the most significant disruptive event for decades, impacting the political, social and economic environment of insurance companies for years to come. It has been a catalyst for several distinct pre-existing macro trends: use of technology, workforce and ESG (sustainability).

Professional Practices Day: Aligned Assurance

The risk landscape has changed dramatically in recent years, both in size and scope. In organizations where assurance functions operate separately without coordination, this slows down decision-making processes. In line with the new 3Lines model, Aligned Assurance can provide the solution to this. The CPP considers this an important issue. For members of the Professional Practices Network (CPP) there is therefore an interesting online Professional Practices Day on June 23. In addition to an update in the field of professional practices, we will address the topic Aligned Assurance. The topic will be discussed, interactively, from different angles.

Save 20% on the CIA in May

The discount is applicable to new application and exam registration fees for the CIA throughout the month May.

Diversity: An Accepted Business Value

For directors seeking to promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in their organizations, it’s a good idea to start at the top. The April issue of Tone at the Top, “Diversity: An Accepted Business Value,” provides strong evidence that promoting diversity is a worthwhile effort because a diversified organization offers numerous business benefits — from additional skills and measurable performance improvements to broadened perspectives and connections.

Leading for agility: Key behaviors of an agile-minded internal audit leader

Being more agile-minded will help you capitalize on the collective skill and capabilities of your department – and help you become a better leader. Based on the experiences of coaching internal audit executive and leadership teams over many years, this brief article explains the mindset and behaviors of a truly agile-minded leader.
